Satoshi Nakamoto
Satoshi Nakamoto takes its name from the pseudonym behind the 2008 Bitcoin white paper, and inherits the anonymity along with it — the Los Angeles label publishes no designer credits. What it does put on record is construction. Padding, appliqué, studwork and heavy washing are applied to silhouettes drawn from motorsport and vintage Americana: racing panels, biker proportions, workwear cuts that arrive already broken in. The interest is in what a screen cannot carry. Padding builds volume a photograph flattens; applied detail puts texture where an image shows none; distressing gives a garment a history no render can fake. These are pieces made to be handled rather than scrolled past. Satoshi Nakamoto is one of the largest collections at ANSH46 Rotterdam, and it holds its place on the same rail as the maisons because the making stands up to them.
